Nicholas Recuber

Nicholas Recuber is a dynamic double bassist whose career bridges classical, jazz, and popular music. He currently serves as Assistant Principal Bass of the Colorado Symphony and has performed with major ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Utah Symphony, and Atlanta Symphony. A former fellow of the New World Symphony, he has also appeared at festivals such as Grand Teton, Moab, Colorado, and Lucerne Forward.

Recuber holds degrees from The Juilliard School and Rowan University, and a graduate certificate from the University of Southern California. His mentors include Orin O’Brien and Nico Abondolo.

A frequent recording artist, he appears on releases with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Boulder Bach Festival, and a forthcoming Decca Records album featuring the music of Christopher Tin. Beyond classical music, he has collaborated with Gregory Porter, Cynthia Erivo, Ingrid Michaelson, Steve Vai, and Nathaniel Rateliff.

An active educator, Recuber teaches at the University of Denver and has led masterclasses at The New School, CU Boulder, CSU Fort Collins, and more.
