Colton Kelley – Double Bass
Colton Kelley is an American double bassist currently based in Göttingen, Germany, where he has served as Associate Principal Double Bassist of the Göttinger Symphonieorchester since 2024. Before joining the Göttinger Symphonieorchester, Colton held an internship position with the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra and previously spent a season performing with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava as part of its International Orchestra Academy. He is currently completing his master’s degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany, where he studies under renowned double bassists Niek de Groot (former Principal Bass of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) and Ömer Faruk Dede (bassist for the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker). Colton began his formal studies in his home state of Colorado at the University of Northern Colorado, studying with Nicholas Recuber. Rooted in both American and European traditions, Colton brings a wide-ranging musical perspective to his work—whether on stage or in the rehearsal room.
